I am currently a help desk/it tech support in a hospital. I was lucky to land this job. I do not have any certs yet. I am working on my a+ now. My departments head admin hired me because they liked my resume and experience. I have been in telecom for 10+ years. Now almost 2 years later, i have had tons and tons experience in servers, switches, and loads of software and hardware. Imo and coming from our admin, all the certs and school means jack compared to hands on real life experience. You almost have to fall into the position or just be in right place at the right time. Either way, keep trying, get your certs, try to get all the hands on you can. Heck stop looking for an admin job and just take a help desk or low level it job, then you will have some work related experience to put on a resume. Good luck.
