6 comments i left an absentee bid with tim's auction for an item for $ 1,450. 00. I was informed that i won the bid for my max bid amount. After i checked the bid history i saw that there was a bid for $1500. 00. I inquired from liveauctioneers what happened? they told me that the auction house made a mistake and bid and then retracted the bid. I asked them if they allow the auction houses are allowed to retract their bid and to my surprise they said yes. They in effect allow each auction house to find out bidders max bid by bidding you to the max and when they see there is no bid sent by liveauctioneers then retract their bid. If this also happens to you don't be surprised if they tell you that this is not a big deal and you have to buy the item and protect the auction house. They don't even allow the bidders to file a dispute against the auction houses only the other way around and they don't even allow you to post an explanation. Don't leave absentee bids with liveauctioneers.
